In 1973 the Cinque Terre DOC is born. With this definition of the area of production and this specification, our wine is protected and appreciated.
A contained area, around 15 km of coastline to an elevation of 700 m that encompasses plots in the towns of Monterosso, Vernazza, Riomaggiore, and in part, La Spezia.
The grape varieties — primarily Bosco, Albarola and Vermentino — are planted in characteristic terraces created with excavated earth and supported by dry walls built by man over centuries.
Grown according to the traditional system of low pergolas with heights between 60 cm and a meter, the grapes are protected from the inclemency of marine winds.
The terrain that easily absorbs the sea air, warmth, and water; the temperate climate, sheltered from northern harshness; the favorable exposure to the sun; the very rocks in the dry walls, that reflect the sun rays’ heat, accelerate the maturation of the grapes. Together with man’s hard work, these are the unique ingredients that have made the wine of the Cinque Terre legendary.
