National Park and
Protected Marina Area

An area famous in all the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, precisely because of the tremendous value of the man-built terraced landscape.
The corresponding seafront is a Protected Marine Area with an extraordinary variety of animal and plant species.
An area rich in biodiversity, in 1999 it was also granted protection and valorization as a National Park: the smallest in Italy, but also the most populated, with around 4000 inhabitants divided between the five villages. It is the balance between man and nature that preserves the identity and the fragility of the area.
The Cinque Terre, thanks to its network of trails that stretches for more than 120 km, is a paradise for lovers of the outdoors or even just for those who want to enjoy connecting with nature and with its delicate beauty.

The essence of heroic viticulture

On this journey of wonders it’s easy for one’s gaze to be arrested by the sight of the dry walls, thanks to which vineyards rise up over the sea, clear signs of heroic viticulture, the result of obstinate ingenuity and extreme adaptability. It is in this context that man wrested the land from hostile nature, to tame it and cultivate Albarola, Bosco and Vermentino grapes, the basis for Cantina Cinque Terre wines.

The uniqueness of a panorama
without equal

Antique winemakers’ villages overlooking the Ligurian Sea, characterized by colored houses, fairytale cliffsides, and vineyards clinging to steep terraces hanging over the sea. The Cinque Terre are one of il Bel Paese’s most original and evocative picture postcards.

Here, between the towns of Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, time seems to have stood still and crystallized at the point at which civilization found the perfect balance
between man and nature. A visit to this rugged coastline is a one-of-a-kind experience, a journey that satisfies the senses at every stage.

Riomaggiore

Riomaggiore is where the Via dell’Amore begins. To see it is to step, literally, into a picture postcard among the slate roofs and pastel-colored facades that give life to light play that enchants the eye.

Manarola

Manarola is the romantic village at the end of the Via dell’Amore. Characteristic are its colored tower-houses that descend all the way down to the little port. Surrounding it all are terraced hillsides, dry walls, vineyards and olive groves that seem to want to protect this pearl snatched from the sea.

Corniglia

In Corniglia, reachable by train and a climb up the Lardarina or a carriage road, a village immersed in vineyards and terracing emerges. Of note are the Piazza di Largo Taragio and the ancient Santa Caterina oratory.

Vernazza

Vernazza, perched on the rocks, beguiles the visitor with its colored houses, its laneways and its bobbing fishing boats. Not to be missed for any reason are the Castello dei Doria’s Belforte tower, the vineyards, and the artisanal shops.

Monterosso

Monterosso al Mare with its beaches, its sheer cliffs, and its crystal waters, is the largest of the Cinque Terre. It’s easy to lose yourself along its narrow streets that smell of salt and lemon or to remain spellbound before the churches of this ancient maritime town and before the Santa Croce oratory.
